I loved making this rabbit, he always seems to be able to make me smile. His arms are not stuffed, but are just tightly crocheted, and this makes them strong enough to pose rather than the limp limbs one often find on baby toys. Admittedly, after enough chewing and washing he will get a little weaker, but the toys I have made for my boys have all stood many endurance tests and are still loved and going strong. This toy is slightly rougher than some of the others I have made, as he is a mohair mix, I was rather concerned at first as I thought that he may be too hairy, but actually he is really tactile and a great success with the little ones. I think the texture adds to his appeal, we are so quick to chose super soft for our kids that we sometimes forget that it is not actually what they would chose. If you want to have a go at making one of these, here is the link. I am happy to help with any questions you may have. There are several things to remember. firstly, he stands because he has a big round tummy, do not skimp on the stuffing or your may find that his head is too heavy for his body and he does not stand up as well. Secondly, the feet add to his stability, if you put them too close together he will fall over more easily. The final thing to remember is that if he gets squashed behind a pillow or even a bed, do not panic, just use your fingers to rearrange the stuffing and he will come back to shape pretty easily. Finally, if you get carried away, they make really run skittles 🙂 be sure to make them in lots of bright colours and I guarantee you and your children hours of fun knocking them over. My main piece of advice to you is not to get too hung up on a pattern, once you get started you will quickly discover that there is fun to be had making any crochet toy, the only limit you have is your imagination. If however you are needing a little guidance here is a link to a great beginners book:The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Amigurumi
